Martinique its a French Island in the Caribbean Sea between S. Lucie and Dominica. The main city its Fort-de France. I was leaving in Martinique between 2012 and 2014.
The island its clear divided by "North" and "South". North side don't have a lot of tourism, the beaches have dark sand and most of the people are locals. South have much more tourism, with all the "post cards" of the island but even like that the infrastructure its really poor.
Like most of the Caribbean islands, the main cities and villages are not visually nice, they are disorganized places and need urgently conservation works and a biggggg cosmetic work.
The beaches are very nice, really TOP... but without any infrastructure... For dive lovers (free-dive or scuba-dive), this is the point.

Les Salines. Best beach in Martinique and one of the island postcards. Amazing for kids. The touristic infrastructure its ZERO. Only some local people doing local food like grilled fish, lobster, seashells...
Anse Dufour in Anse D'Arlet. My favorite beach. A small paradise...
Anse Noir, tween of Anse Dufour. Curious phenomenon is that have black sand and the tween Anse Dufour have white sand. Nice view...
It was really a privilege live in this island... Sun all year, nice boats, beautiful dives, good food, amazing rhum..
Martinique have the best rhum of the world. I clearly suggest "la favorite - flibuste". XO´s from JM, Clement, Saint James, etc... are also really top rhums.
Anse Coulevre, the "North beach". Nature... nature... nature... Need to walk 15 minutes from the "parking". ZERO infrastructure but very beautiful.
Wahoo café in Carbet organize really nice "full moon party's"... Night Caribbean pure ambient. Beach, sand, no shoes, local music, a lot of rhum. Very nice place.
Lili´s Bar, another very nice beach bar, this one in Batellier, near Fort-de-France. Amazing caipirinha, mujito and pina colada.
Lunch fished by myself in Bellefontaine beach in 15 minutes of snorkling..
Mont-Pele Vulcain destroyed the old Martinique capital (S.Pierre) during last eruption. Who like the adventure (like me) can visit the top and crater.
Typical food of Martinique (creol food), lobster, shrimps, mussels, "crabs"... with rice, salad and "creol vinagrete"
Diamant village
"Diamant" rock. Another Martinique "postcard".
Beach Carnival in Les Salines... Instruments and rhythms from Caribe. Excellent
